Drop Down Day at the Tate Modern

Bishopshalt drop down days are an engaging way to encourage our students to embrace the core values of our school. Our most recent trip was all about the love of learning.

‘Love Learning’ is the way our students are able to actively engage in their education and to encourage excitement outside of their chosen subjects.

For Bishopshalt’s ‘Love Learning’ drop down day, the year 12 students travelled to London where they participated in a monopoly challenge. The aim for each group was to try and complete the questions given and to travel around London to areas related to those on a monopoly board.

The students had an engaging experience, exploring London and visiting renowned places such as The Globe theatre and The Tate Modern, where the students took part in ‘Tate draw’ activities and they basked in the glory of the art installation in the turbine hall and the works of influential artists.

Other year groups also enjoyed intriguing programmes:

-Year 7 worked with Bertha Earth, a programme focusing on youth-centred environmental change.

-Year 8 also looked at environmentalism and made seed bombs to increase the school’s biodiversity.

-Year 9 focused on the future and tried out taster GCSE lessons and talked about campaigning against social injustice.

- Year 10 had a variety of activities planned including a visit from the army and a session on improving map reading skills,

-Year 11 went on a trip to the science museum and saw a film in the IMAX cinema about Antarctica.

-Year 13 spent the day at museums related to their A level courses.
